Banned Books Week
"Banned Books Week: Ahoy! Treasure Your Freedom to Read and Get Hooked on a Banned
Book" is the theme for the 26th annual Banned Books Week, September 29 - October 6, 2007.
Miller Library is celebrating with a display of books from our collection that have been challenged or banned in 2006-2007. We hope this annual event reminds Americans not to take our democratic freedom to read for granted.
Works challenged range from the Bible to John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men," from the popular "Harry Potter" series of fantasy books for children by J.K. Rowling to Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." See a complete list of this year's books as well as the display on the main level of Miller Library, and pick up your pirate-theme bookmark.
